Sisterhood of the Traveling Jacket

Jean Jacket: Gap (old, similar here), Dress: c/o Nowistyle, Booties: Lucky Brand (similar), Clutch: Vintage, Necklaces: Vanessa Mooney

Monica is the queen of jean jackets. She only has about 4 jackets/vests but no one, I mean no one, can wear them better than Monica. Her ability to style them eventually made me realize that I too needed a jean jacket. However, I never could bring myself to purchase one.

Then it happened. This last winter while Monica was preparing for her move to the east coast, I went down to Irvine for one last BBFF visit. Once there she claimed she had a gift for me! She went into her closet and I swear it was as if she gifted me the Holy Grail, but better. She handed me my favorite JJ of hers! It was finally mine! Talk about a Best Friend. We joked that this jacket would be our own piece of traveling clothing to keep our long distance friendship alive, but let's be real, I am not letting this beautiful, worn in, airy JJ go. Ever.

Rickey Henderson

Top and Pants: c/o Nowistyle, Pumps: Aldo

Yes, this shirt again. As I told you last time, baseball holds a special place in my heart. My brother played his entire life and my family literally considers themselves "a baseball family."

Which brings me to this outfit post. Sunday afternoon, I haphazardly threw on sweats and a baseball tee. It seemed like my subconscious was pulling me back to the days of double-plays and big league chew. Seeing as I the only cleats I own are for soccer, the next logical shoe choice was a pair of black pumps. All in all this post is dedicated to America's Past Time. As for the title, well that goes to my favorite baseball player of all time of course. I love you Rickey!

Spring Foot Forward

Shorts and Black T-Shirt: c/o Nowistyle, Blouse: H&M, Sandals: Jeffrey Campbell (old), Necklaces: Vanessa Mooney

Spring is here people, which in LA lasts about 2 weeks and then its onto summer. Not that I am complaining, summer tan and sun bleached hair here I come!

Sarcasm aside, I recently put my best spring foot forward and attempted to create a cohesive look out of lavender shorts and a floral blouse. Of course, the only logical thing to do thereafter was to tame down my outfit with a pair of Jeffrey Campbells, known for their simplistic style. And just like that, the sarcasm is back.

Preppy in Peplum

Peplum Skirt: c/o nowistyle, Sweater: Target (old), Shoes: Asos (in black)

I am far from convinced peplum is a timeless fashion detail. In fact, I kind of wish this trend would die already. Harsh I know.

Yet here I am, wearing a peplum mini. Can't knock it till you try it right?

What are your thoughts on peplum?

Happy Monday!

Currently lusting over the art of Laurence Amelie. Can someone spare me a Grand? I have a dire need to add to my art collection.

LBD 2.0

Dress and Purse: c/o nowistyle, Shoes: Stuart Weitzman (old, similar here), Lips: Mac- Russian Red

I realize the juxtaposition of two highly contrasted entities (my dress and that fence) may be forcing your eyes to slowly cross. This was not my intention, but I can't say the same for my photographer. Erik- I see what you did here, my head hurts now, thanks.

If possible, adjust your eyes for a moment and focus on this dress alone. I think you will see that it is in fact, easy on the eyes. (And on the body I might add.) Let's just say I had rolled tacos before this shoot, and you had nooooooo idea.

Point is, when choosing to add to your LBD collection I suggest you do three things: 1. Say NO to the LBD you already have in three different versions. Get out of the (LBD) box ladies! 2. Say YES to patterns! I prefer stripes or spots. 3. Let that belly go, opt for a dress with some movement. Just because it's little and black doesn't mean it needs to be tight!
